Mark your calendars now for the third annual Taste of East Grand Rapids on August 16 from 5-9 p.m. The event takes place throughout Gaslight Village. Purchase tickets at the welcome booth the night of the event and use them to purchase refreshments provided by local vendors. Each ticket is $1, and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit blood cancer awareness.

Gather your friends and boogie woogie down on Cherry Street later this month. The Inner City Christian Federation will host a free concert on Thursday, July 19, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 920 Cherry Street Southeast in Grand Rapids. The concert is family-friendly and there is no admission charge. Bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the Boogie Woogie Babies–three harmony-singing, Broadway-loving gals reminiscent of the 40s and girl groups past. The Creston Neighborhood Association invites everyone to its inaugural Riverside Date Night this Friday from 8:30 p.m.-12 a.m. The association will be playing The Notebook. The movie will start at dusk at Riverside Park on Riverside Park Drive NE. Cost is $35 and includes entry to the event, an appetizer basket, and a bottle of wine or grape juice.

Hudsonville’s summer concert series is back with a lineup of artists sure to keep Veteran’s Park rocking each Thursday night this summer. The Huntington Concerts on the Green series runs from June 14-July 26 with concerts starting each Thursday night at 7 p.m. Concertgoers should plan to bring their own chair or blanket to the concert.
Thanks to concert sponsor, Huntington Bank, series sponsors, DeGraaf Interiors, the Downtown Development Authority, and generous weekly sponsors, the concerts will feature both music and entertainment for kids.
“The kids’ activities have been really taken to a new level,” says Michelle Fare, marketing coordinator with the City of Hudsonville. “We have been able to put together a line up of kids’ activities which will be really exciting for the residents.”
Each week will feature a different activity; there will be bounce houses, slides, carnival games, putt putt golf, crafts, and other great activities. Concertgoers can also grab dinner at the park from on-site food vendors each week. Food options will include DJ’s Pizza, Uncle Ed’s Mexican Food Truck, The Silver Spork, Shortstops, and a barbecue dinner at the final concert, sponsored by Evergreen Ministries. In addition, the fire department will be selling pints of Hudsonville Ice Cream again this year as a fundraiser.
