Fido & Stitch Opens Third Location in Jenison; Adds Boarding Options

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

Fido & Stitch Pet Resort & Salon in Jenison to feature home-style suite boarding, training programs and more.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, one in five households added a dog or cat to their families. To meet the growing demand that comes along with this increase, Fido & Stitch—a pet boutique offering everything your pup may need to live their longest, most fulfilling life—has officially expanded to a third location in Jenison.

The West Michigan pet groomer and supply store with locations in Grand Rapids and Rockford will add boarding, training and grooming at the new spot, which is a former Captain K9 location.

After experiencing significant growth in the last few years, Fido & Stitch's new 6,000-square-foot facility allows the company to provide much sought-after boarding and training services for customers across West Michigan. The company—which has a client base of over 10,000 and anticipates growing that number by 50% in the next year—expects revenue to almost triple from 2021 and double from last year.

"This expansion has opened up many opportunities for us to better serve our customer base with the addition of training services and boarding," said Alli McDonough, Owner of Fido & Stitch. "Boarding can be a nerve-racking experience for both the pet and the owner, which is why we are focused on creating a premium boarding experience with the addition of suites and employees. For those who come to us for our grooming services, we now have greater capacity and are expanding our grooming apprentice program."

Future offerings and improvements include:

  • Lower employee-to-dog ratios to allow for more play and one-on-one time with employees. The ratio will remain around 1:10 depending on the energy and size of the dogs.
  • Boarding space for up to 28 dogs with plans to add "home-style" luxury suite options.
  • Agility and training classes.
  • Expansion of Fido & Stitch's grooming apprentice program, which educates and empowers top-of-the-line groomers to provide quality services to help dogs feel more comfortable during their visit.
  • Occasional interactive events for pet owners in the community.

"Captain K9 was an established business with a lot of loyal clients," McDonough continued. "We are not looking at changing much, but rather implementing improvements and additions to the current services, such as lowering the human-to-dog ratio and requiring additional training for employees. We're excited to begin implementing our plans for growth at this new location, and we hope our customers appreciate the new offerings."

To celebrate the opening, Fido & Stitch will host a tropical-themed open house event on March 25 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., featuring beer, cider, and hot dogs for attendees to enjoy while they partake in fun activities for people and pets alike. Attendees can also get their pictures taken with their pets.

The new Fido & Stitch can be visited at 7560 River Ave in Jenison. For more information, visit Fido & Stitch's website and social media (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter at @fidostitch).
