It’s no secret that teachers are some of the best among us. And with Teacher Appreciation Week approaching next week, we’ve got some ideas for you and your student to show the educators in your life just how much their efforts mean to you!

GIFT CARDS

Support local businesses by picking up a gift card so your child’s teacher can have a nice shopping outing or meal/drink to treat themselves after a long school year. Not sure what their preferences are? Something like a Visa gift card also works.

A TEACHER CAR KIT

Some days, we run out of time. Or, things happen unexpectedly. Piece together a car kit for your child’s teacher with essentials like gum, bandages, hand sanitizer, Tide pen, hair ties, travel deodorant, granola bar, etc. Basically, anything you think you yourself might forget when running out of the door in the morning on busy days.

A HANDWRITTEN NOTE

There’s something to be said about the enduring tradition of handwriting thank you notes and cards. Encourage your student to share their appreciation for their teacher by getting specific about their favorite things they’ve learned, recalling a moment when their support really mattered, etc. You could even have it written on the first page of a brand-new notebook, ready for their desired use.

CLASSROOM DONATIONS

Unfortunately, a lot of teachers fund supplies for their classrooms out of their own pockets. By gathering and donating some supplies for their classroom, you’re likely making a big difference in how they’re able to jumpstart their classroom for the following year. You could even ask for their most-wanted items!

SOMETHING WITH SUMMER IN MIND

While most teachers say they’ve got more than enough mugs and cups, think about what else could be a good accessory for their summertime activities away from the school. Examples include a good book (perfect for the beach), a flower or veggie plant/seeds for their garden, a cute tropical bandana for their pooch, etc.
