It’s that time of year again—Brilliance Awards nomination season!
The Brilliance Awards recognize the dynamic talent, spirit and intellect of those who tackle issues facing professional women. Focusing on nominees who are committed to creating positive change and excel in their fields, the Brilliance Awards shine a light on women and men within the West Michigan community who truly elevate others and blaze trails of inspiration.
If you’ve got someone in mind who fits the bill and you’d like to nominate them, keep reading for our top tips for submitting a nomination that’s sure to stand out.
-
DON’T RELY ON AI.
AI writing is often devoid of a human voice in writing—and those who know what to look for (including our selection committee) can spot it right away. Avoid using AI to submit your nominations. We want to truly hear from YOU. Tell us from the heart about this person and why their actions elevate them within our community.
-
CONSIDER THE “WHY”
Sure, the person or people you’re nominating may be great. But until you explain why, we won’t know! Tell us about their accomplishments and great work, but be sure to go into detail about why their actions make them a great mentor, connector, emerging leader, etc.
-
PAINT A PICTURE WITH YOUR WORDS
The most successful nominations include at least 250 words, with real-life examples that relate directly to the category you’re nominating someone for. We’re not looking for a résumé-style nomination. A narrative with personal description is truly appreciated!
-
REVIEW THE CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS
Read the award category descriptors found on the nominate page of the Brilliance Awards microsite! Not only will this help you get a clear vision of what we’re looking for within each category, but it also might trigger the realization that you know another person who you can nominate that fits that category perfectly.
Remember: Nominations are open NOW and close February 6, 2026. You can even nominate yourself!
The top honorees will be revealed and honored, along with all finalists, at the 10th annual Brilliance Awards in-person event on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.
