2016 Poster Contest Winner Merikay Winter!

Engage with the West Michigan Woman Community!

Merikay has enjoyed her creative side since grade school. She credits her grandmother, a lace maker, and her pianist mother for guiding her to different expressions of her talent. She studied at Kendall School of Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Marriage and other responsibilities led her to put down her paint brushes for years. She absorbed nature as well as art in museums and galleries around the globe, especially in Europe. She began to feel a need to paint again and began taking classes and workshops in watercolor.

Her work is inspired by nature and her love of flowers. She spends summers near Lake Michigan and winters on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where she teaches art classes. You can reach Merikay at [email protected] and signed posters are available at Art in the Park and on Holland Friends of Art’s website www.hollandfriendsofart.com.

Art in the Park will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 and is in its 47th year. Art in the Park is the main fundraising event for Holland Friends of Art, a non-profit, dedicated to bringing awareness to the community of the creative talents the greater Holland area. Holland Friends of Art has a long history of fostering art appreciation and you can connect with them on Facebook.
